Salkantay - Inka Trail (7D / 6N)

Another form to go to the famose Inka trail is visiting the mount Salkantay (6372m), whose name implies “savage”, was a Sacred Inca Mountain. As you approach this impressive mountain, you will realize the amazing trek that follows. The trek begins in the small, quiet town of Mollepata, located in the valley of the Apurimac River (90 km from Cusco). On the second day we will arrive to Soraypampa, our campsite, where we will see the imposing peaks of Humantay and Salkantay. Our highest pass named Humantay on 4800 m. permit to see the beautiful landscapes mixing mountain snow carpets and lowe valley.

IMPORTANT: You should reserve this trip six months before your visit.

ITINERARY

The itinerary is as follows:

DAY 1: Cusco- Mollepata ( 2985m)- Soraypampa(4200m)

Early in the morning the bus pick you up in your hotel and after drive 3 hours we'll arrive to Mollepata, a small and peacefull village, there we will begin the trek. In the second hour of the trek we will see the impresive mountain called Humantay; the trail is in the border of a water chanell and tipycal forest. we will spend our first nigth in Soraypampa below the magnific Mounts of Salkantay and Humantay.(L.D.)

DAY 2: Soraypampa - Incachiriaska pass( 5000m) - Sisaypampa ( 4200m)

Today we have to walk up on a very steep route beside the mount Salkantay,. Seven zig zag is neccesary to do to arrive the pass, the way is clear and save, the trail offer beautiful landscapes. Continuing the trail we'll descend to the valley untill arrive to Challhuay this is a flat and nice place for camping. It is the hardest day in the trail.(B.L.D.)

DAY 3: Sisaypampa - Huayllabamba - Llulluchapampa (5 hours walking )

Following the trek we continue walk down along steep route passing for a impòrtant arqueological places lake paucarcancha where we will find a nice water channel of more than a one kilometer of leng th also in the valley we will arrive to Incarajay another Arqueological Inka ... we will arrive to Huayllabamba early . affter lunch we will continue to Llulluchapampa located before the warmihuañusca pass ( B.L.D)

DAY 4: Llulluchapampa - Huarmiwañusca pass - Phuyupatamarka

Today we will continue to the highest pass called Warmihuañusca on 4200m from here we will see the Pacaymayo valley and the forest surrounding the Vilcanota valley, today we will cross the Runcuracay pass on 3900m after that the trail is not very steep arriving to Phuyupatamarca in 5 hours approximately where we'll spend our second nigth (B.L.D)

DAY 5 Phuyupatamarca - Wiñayhuayna

We descend to Wiñaywayna (2591m) a fascinating Inka citadel and a experimental laboratory for Agricultural purposes in Inkan times. (B.L.D)

DAY 6 Wiñayhuayna - Machupicchu - Aguas Calientes

Early, a fter a breakfast we will walk to Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, in time for lunch and suddenly we will enjoy for the first time a fantastic view of the “Lost City”: Machupicchu; set in a grandiose landscape that is a magic and nice first impression we`ll continue to Aguas Calientes, the next day we`ll visit to Machupicchu.. ( B. box lunch)

DAY 7- Machupicchu - Cusco

Early, a fter a breakfast we will going to Machupicchu by bus the guide we`ll guide you during two hours appox. after you can visit yourself the Sanctuary or take a rest for a few hours. In the afternoon we`ll take the train to Cusco.
